To cover material flow rates from 1 kg/h up to to approx. 15 kg/h, these both capacity levels are well sophisticated for small and mid capacity processing machines. Stainless steel dryer containers are available in sizes 8/15/26/50/75 litres.The WINsystem dryer control unit is simple to demount by clamping locks. The required drying capacity can be set precisely by the HELIOS database (A) at increments up to 100/h. All preprogrammed drying data menu is freeprogrammable for 9 individual drying programs. For all common resins, a special drying intensity is preprogrammed containing dry air volume flow, drying temperature and time. The operator just needs to put the material flow rate in at kg/h in and to select the drying mode (batches drying, continuous drying with pre-drying or continuous drying).

The problem

Drying tiniest amounts of material in portion/continuously and conveying afterwards onto the injection moulding units leads subsequently to problems. Large-scale dryers are not very approbiate based on immense cleaning work. When conveying just few grams of dried pellets, the material gets easily humidified afterwards, is post-cooled in feeding zone of the injection moulding machine leading to quality differences in injection moulding process. If the dryer size is not matching to the drying task, the long residence time of the granulated plastics in drying process leads to failed injection moulded parts.

The solution : WINsystem hopper loader - plastics dryer

The top-mounted Hopper dryer JETBOX directly on the feeding zone of injection moulding unit has been designed especially for the field of miniature and medium size throughput to meet the requirements of this target group, for which centralized drying systems would be overdimensioned. No humidification after drying process, no post-cooling of the dried material before processing, hopper dryer can be cleaned quickly and easily at a material-changeover, energy costs saving, no thermal degradation of the plastics pellets. The filling of this top-mounted dryer can be done via centralized conveying system or using compressed air conveyor.

special applications for WINsystem BASIS/TURBO plastics dryer - granules dryer

All WINsystem BASIC/TURBO dryer capacity line series are equipped with HELIOSTAR 1 component compressed air loader of special glass with automatic filter cleaning function. Optionally available with 2 components mixing loader type HELIOMIX. Control with alarm function (C) for loading units can be selected and individually programmed on control key of graphic display. The resin overheating alarm function is automatically
activated, should a throughput fluctuate due interruption of production, thus avoiding material degradation at exceeded residence time. The dry air flow is automatically reduced to the minimum and the drying temperature is dropped down to innoxious level. As soon as the HELIOSTAR unit starts conveying again, the drying intensity will be increased accordingly. A further serial high-light: HELIOCONTROL, the dew point measuring system developed by HELIOS encompasses the permanent measurement and display of the dew point values between +50°C and -50°C. Free-programmable alarm point guarantees compliance the required minimum dry air quality. HELIOCONTROL has passed a long-term zero drift test in manufacturing process.
Therefore, 5-years warranty performance will be applicable to maintenance-free operation. Even the week timer (B) and function key (D) with 4 drying intensity modes and 9 individually set programs of this high-tech drying systems can be operated simply and safely - even by untrained staff.

typical application

on 30 injection moulding machines, different technical high-precision micro parts in 40 different resin qualities and small lot sizes are produced for hearing aids, changing tools once to thrice a day and processing unit. The highest precision is required when
preparing material for the moulding process and while feeding the machines. The material flow rates per each injection moulding unit are between 0,5 to 5 kg/h approximately, or max. 20 kg per each task. It is key to record drying results with central setpoint
settings of every single batch produced.
